Discovering Stars - New internet soap

July 7, 2008 - PRLog -- It is a little known fact that famous stars such as Brad Pitt, Courteney Cox, Sarah
Michelle Gellar to name a few appeared first in Television soaps. Recently we have
seen home grown talent gaining success with the likes of British soap star Michelle
Ryan who landed the Bionic Woman role.
Television soaps are now successfully turning out stars and 2b Acting, the Leeds
based Theatre and online Video production company, believes that internet soaps
are set to do the same.
Series one of their soap, Today and Tomorrow, became the region’s first internet
weekly soap to be shown by ITV Local Yorkshire in January this year and this is soon
to be followed by the brand new series. The new series has doubled the cast,
extended the filming locations and has introduced even more elaborate and intriguing
story lines, which no doubt will be attracting even more viewers.
“The soap is tailored to the internet in that each episode is kept under 10 minutes
and yet delivers some really dynamic fast paced plots”, says the series producer and
director David Jones, “this places a high demand on artistic talent and the fact that
the series now has some strong and endearing characters is an indication, in my
opinion, that those involved are set to become future stars.”
ITV Local Yorkshire Channel Manager Mark Waddington is looking forward to
showing the second series of the soap which is currently in production. He says, “It’s
incredibly brave of 2b Acting to attempt something like this and shows great initiative.
We’re always on the lookout for creative people who are prepared to take risks”.
2b Acting is different to other production companies in that they established with the
specific aim to create acting opportunities for local talent. With them being among the
first to tap into the potential of internet soaps they may not only be delivering on their
goal but it could prove to be a new accessible route to Hollywood for those involved.
