July 19, 2008 - PRLog -- Kent Station, its patrons and retailers donated $1,500 to the Children’s Therapy Center (CTC) following its June “Shop for a Day, Save Lives Forever” fundraiser. Prior to the four-day event, customers purchased shopping cards for $20 each to receive discounts at participating Kent Station stores when they shopped between June 26 and 29. All proceeds from the purchase of the cards went directly to CTC. In addition, Jamba Juice donated a portion of its weekend sales to CTC.

The following stores participated in the CTC fundraiser:  Aerosoles, Bella home & garden, Cold Stone Creamery, Dave’s MiniHobbyShop, Desert Sun Tanning, Duke’s Chowder House, Hairmasters, Jamba Juice, Johnny Rockets, Justice Just for Girls, Kent Station Family Dentistry, Marie Haggin Accessories, The Mac Store, Optic Gallery, Peridot Nail Salon, T-Mobile, Topaz, United Studios of Self Defense, Zao Noodle Bar and Zephyr Grill & Bar.

The $1,500 donation will be used to provide scholarships so that special needs children without adequate insurance can receive doctor-prescribed therapy services like hippotherapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, feeding therapy and aquatic therapy.

“We would not be able to provide the quality services we do without the help of individuals, foundations and corporate donors in our community,” Lois Maier, Development Director at CTC, said. “Since Kent Station opened, it has been involved in supporting CTC.”

“We are very grateful for businesses like Kent Station who realize the importance of giving back to the community. They are truly making a difference in the lives of some of our community’s most fragile citizens,” Maier added. “On behalf of the families we serve, we want to thank Kent Station for its generous support.”

CTC provides quality physical, occupational, speech and feeding therapies, orthotic foot braces and critical support services for children with special needs and their families. The center’s goal is to maximize the potential of children with developmental delays and disabilities by providing individualized, family-centered intervention services.
