Woosnam Sets His Sights On Third Senior’s Title In America

Aug. 4, 2008 - PRLog -- Despite an excellent start on his final day with a superb eagle at the par-five fourth and a birdie at the next par-five (the sixth) his challenge for a third senior’s title was on course for success. Unfortunately, a double-bogey six resulted from a lost ball at the 10th and a dropped shot on the 11th sparked a fight back from Woosie to deliver seven pars to steady his score.

“I played quite steady on the front nine, but it was losing my ball on the tenth that did it...” he continued “...I lost my rhythm after that. “I knew I needed to par 10 and 11 and then start making birdies on the back nine to shoot something like a five-under par.” Ian Woosnam.

Woosnam is however optimistic for a return to glory in the week’s U.S. Senior Open in Colorado; Ian is currently leading the Seniors Tour with two wins under his belt at the Russian and Polish Opens, in addition to a runners-up place in the Ryder Cup Wales Senior Open – leaving Woosie as favourite to lift his third title in this year’s Senior Tour.
The U.S. Senior Open will be staged at Broadmoor Golf Course, Colorado Springs, USA between 31st July and 3rd August 2008.
