Facts of Life on Mars: We’re weighing in at…

Aug. 12, 2008 - PRLog -- FLAVIA Filterpacks are making a bid for the 2008 Olympic featherweight title…… At less than 0.8 oz (22.7g), the FLAVIA Filterpack weighs less than one quarter of a Kenco single pack and half that of a Keurig K-cup (as measured on July 07).  This makes it a strong contender for a Gold Medal in the Featherweight finals.

Our unique drink vending FLAVIA Filterpack technology is where our tea and coffee is freshly brewed. Over the last three years we have reduced the pack’s weight by 20% and we are continuing looking for innovative ways to minimize its size, and therefore, its carbon footprint.

And we don’t stop at the Filterpack itself, we also look at the ingredients within. Our drink vending systems serve fresh, branded, great-tasting drinks because there’s just the right amount needed to make a perfect drink.  This means that we don’t contribute to the 7 million tonnes of food waste already generated by the UK every year.

We are totally committed to waste reduction and recycling.  Our drink vending Filterpacks can be collected and recycled via Save-a-Cup (http://www.save-a-cup.co.uk/) via our waste-to-energy (http://www.marsdrinks.com/mars-drinks/en/Sustainability/Y...) scheme. They are converted into electricity at a specialist energy plant, which is then fed into the national grid, thus reducing the need for non renewable fossil fuels.

So, whilst we’re pretty impressed with our achievements already, we’re not going to rest on our laurels.  We are in training for 2010 when we have set ourselves more Olympic targets - watch this space for more ‘Facts of Life on Mars’.
