On Friday, September 26, 2008 3:00 PM CT, Stephen Bell will be interviewing Kelly Karius, author of This is Out of Control!¡ A Practical Guide to Managing Conflicts to share strong communication and conflict management skills.

Ms. Karius started her social work career in the child protection field, and found this to be the most stressful job experience she’d ever had. Kelly left after a year to start Karius & Associates to many cries of, "You can't do that with only a bachelor degree!" But bees aren't supposed to be able to fly either. Working part time jobs (including supervising newspaper carriers, church secretary and clinical therapist) allowed for professional growth as well as the opportunity to make Karius & Associates grow. At present, Ms. Karius is engaged in keynote speaking and training, corporate mediation, and provides custody and access assessments for the Court of Queen’s Bench.

Karius & Associates is also undergoing the implementation of a distance education coaching program whereby individuals and corporations can register for webinars. Topics include Building a Mediation Team at Work, Burnout Prevention in Yourself and Others, Conflict, Creating the Culture You Want, Employee Retention, Hiring and Firing and Quality Assurance. This plan can be utilized to motivate change in the workplace while minimizing time away from work, and travel costs.

One of the primary ideas that I want to promote through this business is the growth of all people, myself included. Growth that comes through the awareness and acceptance of our own ideas and perceptions, and those of others. I have met many individuals and groups since starting Karius & Associates.
