Scottish Theatre Company heads to US with sell-out show

Sept. 2, 2008 - PRLog -- Visible Fictions - Scotland’s award-winning theatre company for young people - returns for a US tour of their acclaimed show, 'Jason and the Argonauts' as it heads for its incredible 200th performance.

Kicking off with its only Scottish show at Paisley Arts Centre (Box Office: 0141 887 1010) on 24 September, 'Jason' will then travel to the States. The tour will cover over 5,000 miles as it takes in 19 US towns and cities, including a run at The Kennedy Center in Washington and on Broadway at the New Victory.

Jason’s uncle isn’t exactly lovable…he’s murdered his brother (the king) and stolen the crown and now no one dares stand up to him. Things are about to get a major shake up though because Jason is BACK! After being banished as a baby, our wannabe hero returns to claim his rightful throne and make some big changes.

However, first of all Jason and his crew must sail on The Argo to the other side of the world to find and return the Golden Fleece. As if that wasn’t difficult enough, the odd monster, sleeping dragon and clashing rock endeavour to ruin his trip and spice things up on this most fantastic of journeys!

Douglas Irvine, Visible Fictions’ Artistic Producer and the show’s director said ‘I’ve never forgotten the thrill of seeing the Harryhausen film version for the first time as a child. The purity, inventiveness, thrills and scares it and the original story offer is something I want to pass onto new audiences.’

Performed by two versatile, hugely likeable young actors, Jason and the Argonauts is aimed at anyone from age 9 and beyond and is guaranteed to entertain kids as well as adults with fond memories of the original book and film.
