Paterson honored Award Winning Actor Kevin Byrd commitment to fighting Prostate Cancer through education and outreach. Governor Paterson cited in the Proclamation Actor Kevin Byrd’s commitment to the purpose inspired his own’s grandfather’ The Governor acknowledged the strong focus and innovative strategies to combat this form of cancer – one of the most commonly diagnosed and a leading cause of death among men. Actor Kevin Byrd’s acts have demonstrated outstanding support through his valuable work. He is to be commended for his leadership and tireless efforts to improve the health of men of all ages, and walks of life. In observance of “Prostate Cancer of Awareness Month” the Governor and the entire State of New York would like to offer their appreciation for his efforts which exemplify civic-mindedness and good citizenship. About: Kevin Byrd Kevin Byrd at 27 stands at the threshold of Superstardom; Kevin Byrd has been honored from the Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, and Utica New York’s Mayor Timothy Jullian; his Home town of Utica, New York honored him by designating a Kevin Byrd Day. Each year on October 1st the city observes 30 seconds of silence in honor of victims of Prostate Cancer. Byrd is the 1st and youngest African American Male to receive a Proclamation Award in Honor for all his work with Prostate Cancer. Kevin Byrd has been actively involved in the promoting of Early Prostate Cancer Screening, Testing, and Education for the past 5 years since the death of his beloved Grandfather who died of Prostate Cancer in 2003.
