By: PRStreet, Inc. “After our huge success with the Celebrity/CEO Kids Bowling Challenge earlier this year, we were encouraged to organize a golf tournament,” As a result of the Bowling Challenge, SSFA just awarded nine grants to the Wake County Public School System for educators who specifically work with children on the spectrum, touching over 100 children affected by Autism. Registration deadline for the golf tournament is October 24, or when the spots are filled, whichever occurs first. It is estimated approximately one million in the US have this disorder. A new case of autism is diagnosed nearly every 20 minutes. There are 24,000 new cases diagnosed in the U.S. per year. The economic impact of autism is more than $90 billion and expected to more than double in the next decade. Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases.
