By: Graham Wilson “With the stellar success of the USA in this year’s summer Olympics, and all of the North Carolina connections to the event over the years, this is a timely lineup of speakers for our October breakfast,” said Penn Shore, president of BCA-Triangle. “This panel is sure to treat our members and their guests to some great stories about the Olympic experience.” Dr. Walker served as the first African American president of the United States Olympic committee. Before his involvement on the Olympic committee, Walker coached track and field at North Carolina Central University. In his career Walker coached eight Olympians, 30 national champions, and 80 all Americans. Walker has been inducted into 14 Hall of Fames and received many prestigious honors and awards throughout his career. Billy Packer, former Emmy award winning sportscaster, is most well known for his coverage of NCAA basketball. Packer played basketball for Wake Forest University and led them to two ACC titles and a NCAA final four appearance in 1962. In his career Packer served as a basketball analyst for CBS sports and NBC sports, as well as an ACC basketball analyst for Raycom/Jefferson Pilot Sports. Packer is the published author of Hoops, Why We Win, and a number of other basketball books. Steve Wojciechowski is a fan favorite among the Duke Nation. During his time playing basketball at Duke University, Wojciechowski earned NABC Defensive Player of the Year honors and was an honorable mention All-American. He is currently ranked eighth at Duke for career steals and eighth for career assists. He also achieved the second highest number of steals in a single season with 82 in 1997. Now Wojciechowski serves as associate head coach at Duke under head coach Mike Krzyzewski and served as an advance scout for the USA Olympic team in Beijing.
