(SBPLI) at their recent Sixty Over Sixty Gala.  The honorees were selected based on the positive contributions they have made to Long Island in all fields and industries including healthcare, business, education, arts, entertainment, public service and technology.
A recognized healthcare leader, Mr. Quagliata has been an advocate for hospitals on Long Island for more than 30 years and continues to play an active role in shaping the future of healthcare in the region.  As secretary of the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) and immediate past chairman of the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council (NSHC), Mr. Quagliata is committed to working with legislators both here and in Albany regarding issues affecting hospitals today.
He has been a fervent supporter of Long Island Blood Services throughout the years and due to his dedication is in part responsible for the increase in much-needed blood donations on Long Island.  Mr. Quagliata is also a champion of programs to help combat breast cancer and was honored by the Long Island Breast Cancer Coalition (1 in 9/Hewlett House) as an inductee to their Hall of Fame for his ongoing commitment.  He is also responsible for spearheading South Nassau Communities Hospital’s 5K Breast Cancer Run/Walk that attracts more than 1,000 participants annually.
The Sixty Over Sixty Awards Gala raised funds for SBPLI’s FIRST Robotics and Lego League competition programs.  These national programs challenge teams of students and mentors while teaching them teamwork, confidence, leadership and other work skills.
Founded in 1984, SBPLI is a non-profit organization focused on establishing programs that link high schools and businesses throughout Long Island.
