What makes a company a success story is its approach regarding everything, which I call “The way”. Some of the building blocks of “The way” are:

Management
The Management is not hierarchical. It is management by walking around, and part of that is to decentralize decision-making. The decisions are taken at all level and there is a flat organizational structure, which promotes free flow of ideas, promotes creativity and knowledge sharing at all level.

People
In “The way” every employee is trusted and is made to feel that he/she is important. Trust is one of the critical factors for what “The way” stands for. This trust fosters a sense of belonging for the employees. For each personnel, the personal dignity of each employee and the recognition of the personal contribution are the major factors, which make it so different and successful.

Work Environment
“The way” work environment can be compared to an orchard where creativity, recognition, entrepreneurial spirit and training are apart of the life. It creates an injury-free, pleasant and inclusive work environment that values the diversity of its employees recognizes individual contributions; and help its employees to gain a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment from their work.

Incentives/rewards
To help people share in the company's success, which they make possible “The way”, provides its employees employment security and incentives based on performance. Employees are given recognition and their contribution is duly recognized so as to encourage and motivate them to do better work.

Employees relation
In “The way” the relation among the employees is based on spirit if cooperation, commitment to teamwork, attitude of trust and understanding on the part of managers toward their people.

Analysis of the “The way”
If we look at “The way” we find that its basic principles are put in place to create learning and a knowledge based organization. “It is not the critic who counts, not the one who points out how the strong man stumbled or how the doer of deeds might have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred with sweat and dust and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause; who, if he wins, knows the triumph of high achievement; and who, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory or defeat.” — President Theodore Roosevelt

The main prelude of “The way” are-
•Obey the applicable laws and regulations governing business conduct.
•Be honest, fair and trustworthy in all your activities and relationships.
•Avoid all conflicts of interest between work and personal affairs.
•Foster an atmosphere in which fair employment practices extend to every member of the diverse community.
•Strive to create a safe workplace and to protect the environment.
•Through leadership at all levels, sustain a culture where ethical conduct is recognized, valued and exemplified by all employees.

To attain these above mentioned objective

1. “The way” employee’s people by providing them long term employment and opportunities for personal growth and development. These employees need to be highly flexible and motivated to adjust quickly according to the task. They must be willing to learn new skills and any apply them to achieve the objectives.

2. “The way” places a high value on creating an inclusive environment that benefits from diversity at all levels, values individual differences and enables all people to develop and contribute to their full potential. It actively supports and creates outreach programs that enrich the pool of diverse candidates available for hiring and promotion.

3. “The way” operates on the concept of "management by objective." It means that each individual at each level in the organization should make his or her own plans to achieve company objectives and goals. After receiving managerial approval, each individual is given a wide degree of freedom to work within the limitations imposed by these plans, and by the general corporate policies. Finally, each person's performance is based on how well these individually established goals have been achieved. “The price of greatness is responsibility.”- Sir Winston Churchill.

In the final analysis, I will emphasize the fact that there are some companies who really do what they say. For the companies which follow “The way” have clear mission an idea a sense of purpose and a feeling of belongingness. “The way” works on “Management by objective," as opposed to management by directive.
