CMEPlanet launches 'Virtual Clinic' channel

Nov. 17, 2008 - PRLog -- The 'Virtual Clinic' offers learners visit-based experiences that provide an opportunity to manage virtual patients over multiple visits. The Virtual Clinic environment is personalized so that each learner can easily see which patients he/she has already seen, which patients have returned, and which new patients have arrived.

The Virtual Clinic is supported by a unique self-assessment platform, the CME Companion.  This personal learning tool set allows the participant to track mastery of a particular subject matter in real time as they engage in these CME activities. Participants may also utilize the platform to set and track educational goals, review personal and peer scores, schedule follow up virtual patient visits, receive alerts and reminders, and reach out to colleagues to seek their opinions and to engage them in the activities.

Within each virtual patient visit the learner is challenged to optimize the value of each patient interaction with appropriate work up and clinical management decisions. At the conclusion of the visit, the learner enters a note into the patient’s chart and will be asked to schedule a follow up appointment for the patient. Learners will have the opportunity to see each patient again in their virtual clinic. This continuity of care is integrated into all activities.
