Dream On! - Creative Collaboration Raises Money For Charity Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Nov. 25, 2008 - PRLog -- DREAM ON! – INTERNATIONAL CREATIVE COLLABORATION RAISES MONEY FOR CHARITY

Question: What do you get when you combine the talent of over 40 independent artists, the humanitarian scope of five charitable organizations, the distribution potential of the Internet, and the dream of one of the most inspirational leaders of all time?
Answer: Dream On! – A tribute project, dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Independent artists from four continents have joined forces with nonprofit organizations whose projects span the globe. Although respect and admiration for Dr. King, his dream, and the movement that he led connect this group of diverse musicians, each one was drawn to participate for his or her own reasons.

It was such an honor to contribute to this project. My friend, Sonia Leigh and I had gotten together to write; and we sat down and watched several of MLK's speeches. I felt totally inspired, but at the same time, speechless. What do you write about somebody with that level of courage and power?  
We talked a lot about how he was, in so many ways, far ahead of his time. Even though we both felt like we knew a lot about him, something hit us both on a new level that day; and "Freedom Cried" was the result. I know that the ripples of Martin Luther King's life will be felt for many generations, and I'm excited to lend a tune to carry his message a little further...                  - Lily Wilson (www.lilywilson.com)

Had Dr. King’s life not been cut short, he would have celebrated his 80th birthday on January 15, 2009. The world will celebrate on his behalf, and the artists of Dream On! will lend their voices to that celebration. We invite you to join us by downloading our music (our gift to you), learning more about the peaceful yet powerful man who inspired a nation, and donating to one of our nonprofit partners, whose missions include human rights, education, poverty relief, conflict resolution, and community-building.

As we enter into the season of peace, let us remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — a man who, in the midst of divisiveness and fear, spoke of the power of love and promoted the art of peaceful resistance.
