Goodnight, Don't Let the Bed Bugs Bite!

These days that old, innocuous bedtime saying carries much more meaning than it used to.

Dec. 9, 2008 - PRLog -- Bed bugs have returned to the United States with a vengeance. Infestations have been reported in subway stations, rail cars, airplanes, hotels, motels, hospital rooms and private residences. Over the last ten years, international travel to this country has become possible for many more people due to the devalued dollar. Migrant workers also have contributed to the insect's resurgence. Bed bugs hitchhike in luggage, on furniture, and even on people's clothes.
Humans are the preferred host for the common bed bug, but it will feed on other animals, such as cats, rats, dogs, poultry, canaries, and mice. Usually bed bugs feed at night, but will feed during daylight hours in places such as office, restrooms, and theatres. Bed bugs usually hide in cracks and crevices during daylight hours. They enter such areas easily because of their flattened bodies. Folds and tufts of mattresses are typical hiding places along with coils of springs, cracks and hollow posts of bedsteads, and upholstery of chairs and sofas. In extreme infestations bed bugs are frequently found in places such as behind loose wallpaper, behind wall pictures, under door and window casings, behind baseboards, and even in light fixtures or medicine cabinets.
To control bed bugs, first it is important to inspect thoroughly to determine the extent of the infestation. All of the places mentioned in the previous paragraph must be inspected closely. Frequently, even when the actual bed bugs cannot be found, their hiding places can be located by looking for the spots of fecal material and blood they often leave in visible places. Bed bugs are usually controlled by using insecticide spray or dust applications. Bed bug elimination by a professional can be very expensive, and many people choose to do their own pest control  For more information, products, and advice on how to control bed bugs please visit our website: http://www.youdoitpestcontrol.com/Bed-Bugs.html
