Dec. 18, 2008 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA — Imagine if “Peace on Earth” were not just a holiday sentiment sung in carols and printed in greeting cards. John Lennon challenged the world to imagine that very possibility – calling himself a dreamer and inviting us to join him. One of the peaceful dreamers who inspired those lyrics was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose life and work are being honored by Dream On! – an international creative collaboration that is producing two tribute CDs filled with over two hours of music that is at once a celebration of the progress we’ve made and a challenge to recognize and stand up to continuing injustices in our society and in the world at large.

The primary mode of distribution will be FREE downloadable MP3s. In lieu of paying for the music, the listener will be invited to donate to one (or more) of several charitable organizations, including Pathways To Peace, which is an international peace-building, educational, and consulting organization.
The mission of Pathways To Peace is threefold:
•   To make Peace a practical reality through local and global projects
•   To expand communication and build cooperation among existing organizations
•   To strengthen the United Nations by increasing citizens' participation in its programs
The idea for Dream On! was born on Dr. King’s birthday last January – inspired by a recently rediscovered sermon given by King at Temple Israel in Hollywood, CA, in 1965. The sermon spoke of the insuppressible power of love. And Dr. King’s voice – that amazing, unmistakable voice – reached over the airwaves to awaken yet another dreamer: Maya Armstrong, a writer, who would soon launch herself into the role of music producer.

Almost one year to the day later, Dream On! will be available to the public, and the music (from over 30 artists from four continents) hopefully will inspire another group of dreamers. As we enter into the season of peace, let us remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — a man who, in the midst of divisiveness and fear, spoke of the power of love and promoted the art of peaceful resistance. And, in January, join us in celebrating his life and work by visiting our website: www.thedreamcontinued.org.

Note: The website for Dream On! (www.thedreamcontinued.org) is under construction.
