Follow on Google News | Exciting new mobile broadband offers for December 2008 – Mobile Broadband Genie reportsDecember has been a busy month for the mobile broadband industry with plenty of new and exciting offers launched to tempt customers in time for Christmas.
By: Genie Group First up is the important news that Vodafone is to offer a new pay as you go mobile broadband service – ‘TopUp and Go’. Customers who like the idea of Vodafone's new service will have to purchase the USB modem for £39, but the modem comes pre-loaded with 1GB, or £15 worth of data allowance. After that additional blocks of 1GB can be purchased at £15 a time. The USB modem also comes with a useful 4GB of memory, saving users from carrying an additional USB memory stick. Speaking on the new offering Gillian Nightingale at http://mobile.broadbandgenie.co.uk spoke about how this new PAYG go offering differs from its competitors: Dongles There have been a couple of new dongle announcements made in the past week, both of which signal good development for mobile broadband technology. First up is T-Mobile’s new dongle – the USB Stick 530. This intelligent HSUPA USB modem has an impressive download speed and is capable of 5.7Mbps upload speed. Measuring just 76mm long and 13mm deep when the USB connection is retracted this new dongle has a Micro-SD slot, allowing the use of an 8GB memory card, giving the device additional functionality as a memory stick. It also features easy to use plug'n'play technology that installs all necessary drivers and software the first time the dongle is used. Sony Ericsson has also released the eagerly anticipated MD400 and MD400g dongles, combining mobile broadband connectivity with a M2 Memory Stick Micro and a microSD slot. The MD400g also has an in-built GPS receiver that updates the user's current position and will link in with Google maps. These new little USB modems are both capable of 7.2Mbps download and 2Mbps upload speeds. “These new dongles only go to show that mobile broadband devices are getting more technologically advanced,” commented Gillian Nightingale. “2008 was the year for establishing the mobile broadband market and laying the foundations for the industry. We predict that 2009 will bring more in the way of flexible packages, prices and multi-purpose dongles like Sony Ericsson’s MD400g.” You can do a bit more research on these new mobile broadband offers by Mobile Broadband Genie’s Pay As You Go round-up at http://mobile.broadbandgenie.co.uk/ # # # Broadband Genie allows users to compare broadband online, and is part of Genie Group.
