Scientology Doctrine and Death of Jett Travolta

Scientology is vehemently denying and backtracking their stances about their views on medicine especially psychiatry related to the public in its big flap regarding the death of the mega-stars son.

Jan. 6, 2009 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES, CA  It is the sincerest hope of Anonymous that John Travolta did everything he could for the well-being of his son, Jett. This is how any sane and loving parent of any child would treat their child. However, if John did, he would be acting against the tenets of the Church of Scientology, whose doctrine states that the use of any mind-altering drug - including Depakote - is "damaging to the mind, body, and spirit", and is thus strictly forbidden for any Scientologist.

Depakote is listed by the CCHR, a well-known Scientology front group that is in opposition to psychiatry, as a harmful drug. Scientologists believe that any mind-altering drug stays in the body even after quitting the drug, and that the effects never truly go away. The Travoltas have also stated that they put Jett Travolta through the "Purification Rundown", a Scientology course that involves dangerously high doses of vitamins, extreme use of saunas, and dieting. Coincidentally, the Purification Rundown is also identical to the activities used in Narconon, another Scientology front group used for drug rehabilitation, and Second Chance, a group that has recently been shut down in New Mexico for fraud.

According to WebMD, "Jett Travolta's childhood brush with Kawasaki disease is highly unlikely to have caused the seizures that may have led to his death." Kawasaki disease is, in fact, related to heart problems, and has a very low chance of causing neurological damage. According to early reports, Jett did not have any signs of suffering from a heart attack.

According to the London Mirror, there have been many Travolta family arguments caused by Jett Travolta's alleged autism. Joey Travolta, the brother of John Travolta, said that "it was so obvious Jett was autistic just from spending five minutes with him, but the cruel fact of their religion meant his parents simply did not accept it."

Scientology believes that there is no such thing as a mental illness, including autism. However, L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, stated in a lecture in 1972 that epilepsy can be cured through auditing (basically a counseling session involving a primitive lie-detector), and that they will need to be taken off of any drug the epileptic is on to proceed. Curiously, Hubbard also referred to the medical terms involved with epilepsy as "gobbledygook". See: L. Ron Hubbard of Epilpsy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMom3y1zyZU

The ethics within the self-proclaimed 'most ethical religion in the world' clearly need to be evaluated.
