Jan. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- The Rental Protection Agency (RPA) announced today that it has ratings on every landlord and rental property in the United States, and that the ratings are updated weekly. There are over thirty-three million rental units in the United States.

Landlord Risk Report/Scores run from 0-900, very similar to credit scores. They combine the ratings of individual landlords and specific properties.  Major determinants for a score are state and federal criminal records, renters’ complaints, violent offender lists, neighborhood sex offenders, law enforcement access, standard of living, and crime statistics. The ratings even consider such factors as terrorist watch lists and fair business practices.

The RPA uses a proprietary algorithm code which weighs the various factors to determine a score.

“No other agency offers anything so comprehensive and useful for renters, which make up about one-third of Americans. By referring to our Landlord Risk Report/Scores, renters can reduce their risks considerably,” says RPA spokesman Scott Paxton.

The RPA has relationships with several organizations across the country including law enforcement agencies such as police and FBI in every major U.S. city.

Says Paxton, “Landlords have for years protected their businesses and properties by doing credit and background checks on prospective renters. Our risk scores turn the table and give renters the chance to find out about their landlords and properties, giving themselves peace of mind, especially when they’re looking to rent in an unfamiliar area and from a landlord they know nothing about.”

Renters can access scores for any rental properties and their landlords in the United States by visiting www.RPAusa.com/landlord_free_report.php.

“This is an essential service for renters, many of whom don’t have the money to pay for a background check on their landlord.  For that reason, we offer this information absolutely free,” says Paxton.
