GWT Chairman Robert Andrew Wild Named Board Chair for United Way of Long Island

Jan. 28, 2009 - PRLog -- Robert Andrew Wild, a founding member and chairman of Garfunkel, Wild & Travis, P.C. (GWT) has been named Board Chair for United Way of Long Island effective January 1.   Mr. Wild has served on United Way of Long Island’s Board as Chair-Elect for the past year and as a contributing board member for five years.
  Regarding his appointment, Mr. Wild noted, “I look forward to serving on the Board of Directors for United Way of Long Island, especially in today’s difficult economic environment when it is more apparent than ever that we need to create sustainable, measurable solutions to improve lives here on Long Island.  I’m proud to say that United Way of Long Island is making this goal possible by focusing on improving access to health care, supporting children and youth, reducing hunger and assisting neighbors in need.  Last year alone, we distributed $9.5 million to those in need on Long Island.”
  At GWT, Mr. Wild represents an array of national and regional healthcare provider institutions, companies, practitioners and not-for-profit groups.  His practice primarily focuses on complex transactions for health care providers, including regulatory, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, antitrust, reimbursement, professional conduct issues, patient issues, real estate, graduate medical education and many other areas.  He is also a frequent lecturer and author in the field of law and has addressed a broad variety of groups, organizations and health care providers.
  Mr. Wild was recently named one of the top 12 “Outstanding Hospital Lawyers” in the country by Nightingale’s Healthcare News, a respected industry newsletter reporting on the marketplace.  He has also been included in The Best Lawyers in America since 1991 and in the 2008 New York Super Lawyers.  Mr. Wild is also actively involved on the Board of the American Heart Association and is chairman of the Nassau County Audit Advisory Committee.
  Mr. Wild was an Adjunct Professor of Health Law at Hofstra University Law School and also served as Assistant Clinical Professor Health Law at Stony Brook University.  He is currently a member of the New York State Bar Association Health Law Section.
