Feb. 3, 2009 - PRLog -- Sparkles is excited to announce the launch of the Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog Fan Club. Sparkles, rescued from a home with 62 other dogs, has become an invaluable member of the fire service, according to her owner, firefighter and fire safety educator Dayna Hilton.

“Sparkles has helped with hundreds of fire safety programs on the local, state, and national level, and has come a long way since her days before adoption,” said Hilton. “Sparkles has participated in a Congressional briefing in Washington, DC, appeared in newscasts around the country and on FOX and Friends in NYC. She currently appears on PBS KIDS Sprout On Demand, sharing fire safety tips with her fire safety friend, Spanner,” she continued. “I am so proud of Sparkles. Her enthusiasm for helping teach fire safety is contagious,” said Hilton.

"According to the U.S. Fire Administration, the very young (those under 5) have a much greater risk of death than other children. In fact, that age group accounts for twelve percent of fire related deaths – the highest proportion for any age group,” said Hilton. She went on to say that the Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog Fan Club is geared toward that age group as well as children up to age eight and their caregivers.

“Children of all ages are welcome to join Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog’s Fan Club,” according Hilton.

With fire safety as the central focus, a one-year membership includes an:
•   Autographed copy of the children’s fire safety book, Sparkles the Fire Safety        Dog, “pawed” by Sparkles
•   Personalized birthday card “pawed” by Sparkles in the mail
•   Printable membership card and certificate
•   Sparkles’ Spot, a bi-monthly downloadable e-newsletter filled with fire safety tips, videos, contests and much more!
•   Sparkles’ coloring page

For an annual membership fee, children can join the Sparkles’ Fan Club, which is both fun and educationally sound. Members will also receive a bonus Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog puppet stick pattern.

Children may visit Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog’s website at http://www.sparklesthefiresafetydog.com to learn more about Sparkles or to join the Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog Fan Club.
