Shirley R. Sypolt has been named an honored member in education by Princeton Premier.

Shirley R. Sypolt, full time fifth grade teacher at Cooper Elementary Magnet School for Technology, has been chosen for inclusion in the 2009-2010 Princeton Premier Registry.
 
Feb. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- Shirley R. Sypolt is a full time fifth grade teacher at Cooper Elementary Magnet School for Technology in Hampton, Virginia.  She is a national board certified middle school generalist, and her expertise is teaching science.  She has taught science method classes for pre-service teachers and as an adjunct professor at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. Shirley is state certified as a professional development instructor for several national environmental education programs, such as Project WILD, Project Aquatic, Project Learning Tree, Project WET, Project Underground, and Flying Wild.  She conducts training in these national programs for the school district and other organizations throughout the state.  Shirley writes environmental science grants for her elementary school and has helped receive over one hundred thousand dollars of grant funds for science programs within the eighteen years she has been teaching.  Shirley directs a two week science mini-course about the Chesapeake Bay during the spring intersession.  Due to the grant money she has helped raise, they will extend the program and take the children camping on the Eastern Shore, where they will participate in intensive hands-on experiences with science experts.  Shirley has won numerous local, state, and national environmental education awards, including A Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching, and a National Science Teachers Association Distinguished Teacher Award.  She is highly regarded for her efficiency in both her professional and personal undertakings.  Shirley maintains an active humanitarian profile, contributing to various charities and volunteer groups, including the United Way and the National Wildlife Federation.  In her spare time, Shirley enjoys gardening, reading and being with family.  

In recognition of an exceptional career as full time fifth grade teacher at Cooper Elementary Magnet School for Technology,  Shirley R.
