Follow on Google News | ![]() The First National Black Pre-Professional School Weekend 2009 Converges in Houston, TX in NovemberThe National Black Pre-Professional School Weekend, which includes the National Black Pre-Law Conference and the National Black Pre-MBA Conference, will take place on November 6-7, 2009 at the University of Houston - Downtown in Houston, Texas.
By: Evangeline M. Mitchell, Esq. This year’s first National Black Pre-Professional Weekend features the National Black Pre-Law Admissions & Preparation Conference and Law School Recruitment Fair. This event provides everything future lawyers need to know to navigate the admissions process, financial aid, the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), law school selection, preparation programs, the law school learning and academic experience, student life, diversity issues, the bar exam, and career options. Those specifically interested in earning an MBA can participate in the National Black Pre-MBA Conference and Business School Fair. A comprehensive offering of panels and workshops provide insightful discussion on all of the major topics of interest and importance to aspiring MBAs including pre-requisites for non-business majors, the admissions process, financial aid, the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) preparation, business school choice, the value of the MBA, the MBA student learning experience, preparation resources, and career paths. Dynamic keynote speakers will provide motivational addresses at both events. Top entertainment attorney and CEO of the Black Broadcasting Network Ricky Anderson, Daryl K. Washington, founder of Black Legal Issues and the Unequal Justice Legal and Educational Fund, and Oswald J. Scott, Jr., judge, author, motivational speaker, and life coach, will present keynote speeches for the Pre-Law Conference. Successful Harvard Business School graduate Panya Lei Yarber, the program director for the Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program at Rice University, and Ernest M. Fountain, MBA, the CEO of Fountain of Financial Services LLC and author of “To Achieve the American Dream” will address pre-business school participants. Additional speakers, panelists, and workshop presenters will soon be announced. Both events provide informative panel discussions and workshop sessions, a complimentary continental breakfast, and most importantly, critical networking activities and opportunities. They culminate together with an All-Black Affair, an elegant, upscale social to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the National Black Pre-Law Conference and the inaugural National Black Pre-MBA Conference.
