By: Megaice The first of two, a Division 1 All Star Game was held on January 17th, 2009. Coors Light sponsored the teams, naming them Coors Red and Coors White. The hour-long game was held in the early evening at MegaIce, with free admission to help promote the sport in Hong Kong. 22 of the Division's top players competed in the game, drawn from four leagues and over 20 teams. MegaIce's Deputy General Manager, Keith Fong, believed that 'The unity that players from previously different teams can possess when they need to was the stunning thing about the game". The Chinese New Year Cup was this year used as a warm-up game for the Challenge Cup of Asia, to be held in Abu Dhabi from March 15-20, 2009. "The national team will need to keep their skills finely honed to stave off the Hitmen in future", says Mr Fong. Together, the National Team and the Hitmen really showed the world that Hong Kong ice hockey is a new force in winter sports".
