Save A Paperclip and Save A Fortune

While less than a penny to manufacture and costing nothing compared to other office products, a paperclip saved is money earned.

March 9, 2009 - PRLog -- Norwich, CT – The old poem about the want of a nail rings just as true with the mighty paperclip.  Yes, that twisted conniving piece of metal that holds loose paper together.  A simple design that costs virtually nothing to make and even less when you compare the other investments you make in your office products.  That paperclip is worth more in the long term than you know.  When you throw a paperclip away, you might as well toss in your loose change after it.  A paperclip saved is money saved.

Like the old poem about the nail, expand the galaxy that the paperclip lives in.  The ink, the paper, the printers, the networking cables, the electricity, the software, the computers, and the person who sits down at the desk in their plush office chair to type the words.  The paperclip is linked, related, and an important part of the office environment.   Unlike the majority of those items, the paperclip can be used numerous times to infinity if one so desires.  That is why the mighty paperclip should be saved instead of thrown away, for it is useful beyond the microscopic investment that was made in its purchase.

To truly save a fortune is not to have any paperclips at all.

The modern office environment as described above is a complex system that will not easily be done away with.  This is specifically true of the networking cables, software, computers, and the people involved to harness their power into actual business content.  Items in the environment that produce excessive waste are the printers, the ink, the paper, and alas… the paperclip.  While there are a few who understand the value in saving a print job until everything correct and those that horde all the paperclips that come across their desk, the vast majority of the modern worker (and perhaps those in your office) print with reckless abandon.  It is not uncommon for them to print a document six, seven, or even twelve times before it is correct for distribution.  All of those pennies are wasted and lost to the dust bins when thrown away.

Modern technology, tied into your current business environment, can save those pennies and paperclips by making your office paperless.  Harnessed on the back of your intricate networked office, a document control system can not only save man hours, but stop the waste in thrown away paperclips and multiple useless printouts.

Unlike the current method of print, paperclip, and route the modern document control system can provide the following powerful leverage:

1)   A simple and quick search upon all your business content – not someone desk.
2)   A location to leverage the collaboration of your team for new knowledge and insight.
3)   Control over what, who, when, where, why, and how your content is used.
4)   Ability to expand as needed without having to purchase more equipment.
5)   Quickly assess and break up bottlenecks in the approval process.
6)   Control the version of documents in draft, review, and/or release.
7)   Easily comply with regulatory and standards organizations.

A paperless office that removes waste and promotes the production of successful business ideas that will help your company grow.  While saving a paperclip can save you money, to truly save a fortune is to have no paperclips at all.
