The Tarrytown House’s new “Added Value With Your Values Added” meeting package offers five percent off the master bill, and a hotel donation matching the same amount of those savings earmarked for either Habitat for Humanity or the Food Bank of Westchester. The choice of charity will be up to the client. As another add-on, the Tarrytown House can arrange a team-building day or half-day at a Habitat home under construction or the Food Bank warehouse. “We are so excited to offer this opportunity to our corporate clients, and in turn, provide funding for these two wonderful non-profit organizations in our area,” said Joe Santore, General Manager. “We are proud to support both Habitat for Humanity and the Food Bank of Westchester, and to be able to give something back to our local community.” Since its inception in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 300,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1.5 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat house and the houses of others. The Food Bank for Westchester solicits and administers food and monetary donations from both the public and private sector, distributing food through local agencies to meet the needs of individuals and families. The Food Bank supplies and supports almost 200 frontline hunger relief member agencies throughout Westchester. In addition to delivering five to eight tons of food per day in its three trucks and one van, member agencies pick up thousands more pounds of food from the warehouse daily. The Food Bank distributes approximately five million pounds of food annually.
