Follow on Google News | 2nd Annual Peak of Fashion Show in Apex Draws a Crowd, Helps Fight Violence Against Women80+ Audience Members Enjoy Good Fashion, Wine and Company
By: Cheri Kinney 80-plus fashion-loving audience members, despite cold and rainy weather conditions. The free event kicked off with 6:30 p.m. cocktails before the 7 p.m. fashion show, and featured vibrant spring fashion, hair and makeup trends. Sponsoring businesses included Hair, Body & Sole Salon and Spa, Nativa, My Girlfriend’s Closet, Laura Kelly Designs & Licensing, Pure Expressions Photography and Anne Clay Photography. Additional V-Day Apex 2009 organizers also attended the show to serve wine and “goodie” bags to audience members. “It was an exciting evening with a DJ, goodie bags and door prizes,” says Hair, Body & Sole Salon and Spa Owner Cheri Kinney. “Everyone who won something had to walk the runway, and they seemed to love it. A good time was had by all, despite the weather.” Funds raised in support of V-Day Apex 2009, a global movement to end violence against women and girls, will be donated to the Apex Police Department to build a “soft” interview room where detectives and officers can meet with victims of crimes and their family members in a private, non-threatening environment. The funds will also be used for officer training focused on responding to domestic and sexual violence.
