April 2, 2009 - PRLog -- Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (S-T-Double-A) has released its debut ranking of the Top 20 collegiate sports broadcasters in the country. The ranking is part of STAA’s All-America program.

The STAA Top 20 includes students from colleges, universities and community colleges across the country. STAA CEO Jon Chelesnik made the initial evaluations.

“I knew that it would be a difficult process,” Chelesnik says. “I didn’t realize just how difficult it would be, though, until I got into it. There are hundreds of outstanding collegiate sports broadcasters across the country. Like any rankings, the STAA Top 20 is highly subjective, and we don’t have won-loss records and strength of schedule comparisons to make our evaluations any easier. Anyone who was not evaluated as favorably as they would have hoped should not be discouraged in any way. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

The STAA All-America program recognizes the most outstanding collegiate radio sportscasters in the country and encourages collegiate sportscasters nationwide to strive to achieve their best. Each June, the nation's most outstanding collegiate sportscaster will be presented the Jim Nantz Award, college broadcasting’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.

The top five sportscasters at the end of each scholastic year will be named STAA All-Americans.

This year’s winners will be announced June 5, 2009.

In addition to a handsome trophy, the Jim Nantz Award winner will receive a demo and resume portfolio package from STAA and one year in the industry-renowned STAA Talent Search, the most valuable resource available to sportscasters in the job market.

The five STAA All-Americans will each receive three months in the STAA Talent Search, a certificate of achievement, and the prestige and exposure that come with being recognized by STAA as one of the nation's top young sports broadcasters.

Sportscasters do not have to be STAA clients to be eligible.
