Follow on Google News | Public Petition to Review Scottish Government’s ConsultationThe comprehensive petition submitted by Freedom To Choose (Scotland) calls on the Scottish Parliament to request the Scottish government to review the consultation 'Achieving Smoke-free Mental Health Services in Scotland
By: Freedom To Choose (Scotland) Eddie Douthwaite, spokesperson for the pro-choice group, had cited various flaws in the original consultation document and has confirmed that the petition is now available on the official Holyrood e-petition website.1 “The original consultation contained various claims that were extremely questionable, and it was entirely unreferenced,” Freedom To Choose (Scotland) is also concerned that the consultation refers to bans being extended within hospital grounds, a move that goes beyond the provisions of existing legislation. The purpose of the petition, which will be collecting signatures until the closing date of 17 April, is to “call on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to review its consultation ‘Achieving smoke-free mental health services’ which contains factual inaccuracies thus making the process fatally flawed”. Freedom To Choose (Scotland) is confident that the public will agree that a consultation should be based on accurate information and data.
