Greenlodge.Org adds Texas Hotel to Green Hotel Guide.

April 7, 2009 - PRLog -- http://www.Greenlodge.org announces the addition of the Holiday Inn San Antonio International Airport as a Silver ranked hotel in its database.  The hotel is the Pilot Hotel for InterContinental Hotels Group Green Engage Program and employs several core initiatives in its green efforts.

Some of the hotel's green efforts include a full single stream recycling program for guests and staff, an energy conservation strategy that included the installation of digital thermostats in all guests rooms, the replacement of light bulbs with CFLs, and significant efforts to conserve water which resulted in the hotel winning the San Antonio Water System Water Saver Award in 2008. Their future plans include a rooftop herb garden and plans to develop green partnerships with other environmentally friendly businesses.

Greenlodge.Org includes hotel properties that have been certified by: Green Seal, EPA EnergyStar, LEED, and Green Leaf among others as well as hotels that are certified by one of the 17 states offering green hotel programs. Greenlodge.Org also offers a list of hotel chains that have initiated their own green programs. The site is updated regularly to include newly opened and certified hotels.

To date, Greenlodge.Org’s online database includes over 700 U.S. hotels ranked based on green certification status and specific efforts made to go green. Greenlodge.Org also offers resources on different types of green hotels, an online community for sharing travel tips, experiences at eco-hotels and opportunities to reduce guests’ carbon footprint by booking travel.
