By: Stefano Loi People who love trekking cannot miss one of the most beautiful and unforgettable excursions in the island of nuraghi. We leave from Dorgali and, while inside the gorge, the feeling of a unique and indivisible contact with nature will fill our soul, especially because the Gorropu canyon is in the widest uninhabited and wild area in Sardinia and Italy. Gorropu is an impressive gorge dug by the once mighty waters of Flumineddu river and it is a fascinating and surprising place. In a million years deep furrow between the Oddeu and Cucuttos mountains, the excursion to Gorropu is characterized by uncontaminated nature, oleanders, luxuriant and perfumed evergreen oaks, strangely shaped rocks, caves, pools, karst dolines and a wide range of birdlife species. Behind Mount Corrasi, in the Oliena’s area (NU) is one of the most mysterious example of ancient human settlement. Visiting Tiscali is an adventure that will make you go back to the nuraghic civilization. It’s a journey that doesn’t give you answers, on the contrary, it increases the enigmas about the civilizations that occupied Sardinia and left thousand of unaccountable and fantastic signs. Furthermore, Tiscali archaeological findings are different from all the other mysterious ones left by the nuraghi people. The Nuraghes used to be clearly visible, rarely hidden; Tiscali, on the contrary, is a secret fort which can be seen only when in front of its entrance. Tiscali, a 518 metres high mountain, rises at the bottom of the enchanting and wild Lanaitto valley. Hidden at the top of the mountain is a huge round open-air cave. Once inside you will enjoy the wonderful view of a beautiful masonry huts village. The nuraghes agglomeration was so wide that it was divided into two different districts. This village was discovered by people who came after the nuraghic civilization and from that moment on it was considered an ideal place where to live. People lived here until the Roman and the High Middle Age, even though it was “rediscovered” Excursions in Sardinia: http://www.ciaosardinia.com/ Trekking in Sardinia: http://www.ciaosardinia.com/ Holidays in Sardinia: http://www.ciaosardinia.com/ # # # Betogo.com is a registered mark of Tobeabee Ltd, company estabishled in 2001 whose mission is to realize a portal that enhance a new idea to make tourism: linked not only to the destination but also to the traveller.
