April 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Automated Packaging Systems link up with HSS Hire to offer affordable automated bagging and void fill solutions to small businesses
Automated Packaging Systems has long provided automated bagging and void fill solutions to businesses all around the UK, but for the first time ever this equipment is now available to hire rather than buy.  Automated Packaging Systems has just joined forces with nationwide tool and equipment provider HSS Hire to offer exclusive short and long term hire of its ‘FreeSpace’ bagging system and AirPouch void fill system.
Whilst the online shopping phenomenon remains buoyant despite the recession, and the UK’s online marketplace continues to be a breeding ground for thousands of small businesses, there are some big challenges for those buying in bulk and splitting down.
The cost of bagging and handling materials is surprisingly high, with escalating labour costs hitting margins hard.  Add to that the fact that many online retail operations are run from homes and small retail premises on a part-time basis, and it’s clear that the slow pace of handling, sorting and packing products can cause critical failure and result in unfulfilled orders.
However, from March 2009, small businesses can enjoy an affordable and flexible way to automate their bagging system as the Automated Packaging System PS125 ‘FreeSpace’ becomes available to hire exclusively through HSS Hire’s One Call service.
The PS 125 ‘FreeSpace’ is specifically designed for low- to mid-volume operations.  It is highly productive, flexible and simple-to-use, and has been adapted for a wide range of applications, from splitting bulk purchase fittings and craft items to dispatching goods from offices.
Capable of operating at speeds up to 25 bags per minute, it weighs less than 40kg and has a footprint of 550mm x 480mm, which means you can use it in the smallest of spaces.  The quiet, all-electric design doesn’t require compressed air.
Available on short or long-term hire, with attractive rates, ‘FreeSpace’ makes it possible for one person to sort and bag products at between four and six times their normal operating rate in a like-for-like bagging scenario, saving time and cutting the cost of bought-in labour.   And with bags available in a range of sizes from postcard to pillowcase, there are options to suit just about every operation.
In addition, HSS Hire will also offer  AirPouch, Automated Packaging Systems’ desktop void-fill system that provides an immediate, light-weight and greener source of reprocessed protective packaging cushions is another new addition to the portfolio.
AirPouch is fast and easy-to-use, providing protective air-filled cushions at a rate of 15 linear metres per minute, enough to fill a family car every 10 minutes.  The cushions offer excellent protection and padding and are ideally suited for components, spare parts, CDs, books, electronics, pharmaceuticals and electrical items.  AirPouch is widely used in mail order centres, fulfilment houses and for parts distribution, and will be available for hire on a weekly basis.
Equipment can be found on page 65 of the HSS catalogue, or online at:
