HIV Can Be Killed, During Sex or In an Infected Person

The HIV Pill, HIV Abzymes, GML Gel and GML Cream are new weapons that can kill the HIV virus.

April 21, 2009 - PRLog -- To cut costs and speed drug development, GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer, the world's two biggest drug companies, are merging their HIV operations into a new company. Last year, worldwide HIV drug sales rose 14% to $12.3 billion, according to data firm IMS Health.

Eleven companies are producing some version of an HIV pill (http://www.TheHIVpill.com), including Gilead Sciences, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Abbott Laboratories, Merck & Co. and DuPont Pharmaceuticals.

In the U.S., over a million people were living with HIV at the end of 2006 (most recent federal data). Surprisingly, 74.8% of people with HIV were men. Overall, 27.6% of HIV cases were related to heterosexual sex. Among women, 72.4% of HIV cases were due to heterosexual sex.

Thanks to recent scientific breakthroughs, it is clear that the HIV virus can be stopped.

In 2008, researchers in Houston discovered a way to kill the HIV virus in infected persons, by going after the cell’s "Achilles’ heel". HIV is constantly mutating, but one part of the virus doesn’t change. That’s the target for the new HIV pill. Dr. Sudhir Paul of the University of Texas said, "We have found an innovative way to kill the virus by finding this small region of HIV that is unchangeable. We’ve discovered the weak spot of HIV."

The researchers are using abzymes (http://www.HIVabzymes.com) to destroy the virus. Abzymes occur naturally in some people who suffer from autoimmune disorders (like lupus), but they can also be produced commercially.

HIV can also be killed before it enters a woman’s body during intercourse. In recent months, University of Minnesota researchers showed that a dab of GML (glycerol monolaurate) gel or cream applied to the vagina before sex will protect against the spread of HIV from an infected partner. GML is a common chemical that exists naturally in humans and is safely used in ice cream and cosmetics. A dose of GML gel or cream (http://www.GMLgel.com, http://www.GMLcream.com) costs only pennies.

It may take the FDA a few years to approve HIV marketing claims for GML products, but any compounding pharmacy should be able to produce them. As long as they don’t make any medical claims for the gel or cream, pharmacies can sell these life-saving products immediately.
