First inspired to become a lawyer through his interest in politics, Neil is an accomplished attorney specializing in Brownfield redevelopment, financial transactions, complex real estate transactions, economic redevelopment and commercial transactions and was named one of Michigan’s Super Lawyers in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Admitted to Bar in 1985 by the Michigan U. S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, he was former in-house counsel with Sterling Bank from 1985-1990 and NBD Bank from 1990-1995. He received a B.A., with honors, from Michigan State University in 1982 and his J.D, with honors, from the University of Detroit in 1985.  Neil has authored several published articles including Industrial Redevelopment, published in the Michigan Bar Journal, in October 1994 and Can We Still Use This Property as Collateral, published in Michigan Lawyer's Weekly, in January 1993. In addition to these achievements, Neil is an associate member of the Service Station Dealers of America/National Coalition of Petroleum Retailers and Allied Trades Association of Michigan, as well as the Michigan Bar Association and is a major contributor to 1995 Public Act No. 71 and other environmental laws. This impressive resume in coupled with an equally enterprising philanthropic agenda. Neil is a member of the board of directors of Global Food Bank Group, Inc., a non profit organization, attempting to alleviate hunger in Wayne County, Michigan. In his leisure, Neil enjoys sports and spending time with family.
