Bistro Z at Doubletree Takes Part in "Entree to Hope"

Bistro Z at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown takes part in "Entree to Hope" to benefit local non-profit organizations.

May 18, 2009 - PRLog -- Bistro Z, the upscale modern American bistro at the new Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown, is taking part in a new program called “Entrée to Hope,” which is the first of its kind partnership among three leading Westchester non-profits:  The Food Bank for Westchester; Grace Church Community Center; and Literacy Volunteers of Westchester.
From now through the end of June, these agencies are joining together with Bistro Z and other Westchester restaurants to raise money to provide food, shelter and education to the county’s neediest residents.

The idea is simple --  diners in participating restaurants will receive a check presenter at the end of their meal encouraging them to donate $1 per entrée. Diners can, of course, give more than $1 per entrée if they wish. Ninety cents of every dollar will go directly to the three partnering agencies, to help those who are most in need - giving them a much needed "Entrée to Hope".

The Food Bank for Westchester is the backbone of Westchester’s emergency food distribution network, providing over 95% of all the food distributed by 190 grass roots programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and residential programs, helping to feed hungry Westchester children and their families.  For more information, visit www.foodbankforwestchester.org

Grace Church Community Center is a non-sectarian, social services agency that annually assists more than 3,000 of Westchester County’s neediest men, women and children through its nine programs.  Services include three shelters, a soup kitchen, eviction prevention services and an after-school mentoring program for homeless and disadvantaged children.  For more information, visit www.gracecommunitycenter.org.

Literacy Volunteers of Westchester County, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to “reaching the hardest to reach and teaching the hardest to teach:” American-born adults with poor literacy skills due to lack of opportunity, or undiagnosed learning differences; and non-English speaking adults who may have low literacy in their home languages, either for economic reasons or because their own language lacks written form.  For more information, visit www.literacywestchester.org.

While Westchester is one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, it still contains large pockets of poverty. More than 83,000 people in Westchester live below the Federal poverty line of $22,200 a year for a family of four.  Another 100,000 individuals are living on the edge, only one financial crisis away from losing their homes.  Westchester is ranked eighth on a list of least affordable metropolitan areas in the U.S., making it difficult for low-income individuals to find and keep housing. These problems are expected to worsen as the economy continues to decline.

The Entrée to Hope program seeks to help alleviate these conditions by raising funds to provide for these three core services. When combined together, they can change the lives of the poorest among us, moving them from poverty to hope.
Bistro Z is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and is located at the Doubletree Hotel, 455 South Broadway in Tarrytown, New York.

The Doubletree Hotel recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation. The entire 247-room hotel has been completely refurbished and now boasts the largest Grand Ballroom in Westchester with 10,000 square feet of space.  A total of 24,000 square feet of meeting and pre-function space includes an additional ballroom and 17 meeting rooms.  In addition, the hotel offers a complimentary Business Center, indoor pool, sauna, fitness center and a separate Glatt Kosher kitchen for accommodating Kosher events.

Set on 11 acres of landscaped grounds in the heart of the Hudson Valley, the new Doubletree Hotel is conveniently located just off Exit 9 of I-87 in Tarrytown, NY.  The hotel is just 15 minutes west of the Westchester Airport, and 25 minutes north of New York City and LaGuardia International Airport.  Nestled in a corporate atmosphere near many Fortune 500 companies, the Doubletree offers a country atmosphere and friendly service for both business guests and vacationers.
