May 19, 2009 - PRLog -- Concerns are rising that a worldwide outbreak could put severe pressure on companies that are already struggling under the weight of recession. A pandemic is likely to lead to depleted workforces and tight restrictions on travel - and with a week's snow alone costing businesses up to £1 billion across the country, the impact could be devastating.

As a result, ANS Group has experienced a flurry of interest in its videoconferencing products, as forward-thinking businesses seek to put precautionary measures in place.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director at ANS Group, said:

"It's good to see that companies aren't panicking about a potential pandemic, but that they are looking seriously into the measures that could save their business if the worst should happen.

"The Government has already issued guidance on overseas travel, and a full-blown, global outbreak could see business travel abroad and within the country severely limited, if not completely prohibited.

"Fortunately, the quality of high definition video conferencing and improved voice conferencing systems available, such as those provided by Lifesize and Cisco, mean that there is no reason why meetings could not go ahead, causing the least possible disruption to the day-to-day running and business development of a company."
