May 31, 2009 - PRLog -- You may be a member and not even know it.  Together, we join with millions of other brothers and sisters in an unspoken battle against the single largest nightmare known to humanity; the fear of commitment.  Luckily, there are others that have taken the initiative to help all who suffer cope with this debilitating affliction.  “Okay, maybe it’s not that serious.  But we are serious about helping,” said CEO/Club Vice President Cory Heuchert (co-founder).  The Fear of Commitment Club, also known as The FOCC, is an organization of young, mostly 18-34 year olds who struggle with the thoughts of being bound by the ties of commitment.

The inspiration for the FOCC arose during a conversation one evening between two best friends about their difficulty in dealing with the obligations that come with serious relationships.  After several humorous discussions with other friends regarding this subject, these two were surprised to discover that they were not alone in their fear.  The FOCC was born.  “The club started out as somewhat of a joke.  But pretty soon, fellow co-founder and Club President James Hunn and I realized the club’s ability to give those afraid to commit an outlet to get advice, share stories, tell jokes, and relate to others who share this common bond,” Heuchert said. “As we saw the club begin to acquire more and more new “members” locally, the potential for growth on a larger scale was recognized.”

At the request of the founders, longtime friend Brent Hurst designed and built the club’s current website to offer humor, online games, advice and forums for sharing.  The site was designed with social networking in mind as a way for “members” to communicate with each other on a national and international level.  Hurst said, “One of the nicest surprises for us was the number of participating women online daily.  We initially thought this would mainly cater to guys and their perspectives on commitment issues.  However, we soon discovered that women were visiting the site just as often as men and were in need of this type of support as well.”  Hurst continued, “The FOCC is for those who have loved and lost, for those who have yet to commit, and for everyone in between.  Humor, sharing stories and friends really are the best medicine.”

Within the next several months, the FOCC anticipates launching a new charter membership drive that will allow individuals to establish local chapters, organize membership campaigns, sponsor local club activities, and have exclusive club access and rights in designated geographic areas. They are also in the works of making a brand new profile look. This profile look will be a facebook, Gmail, and worldwide news all rolled into one.  Details will be available on http://www.FOCConline.com.

The FOCC currently has general members throughout the United States and in several foreign countries.  “Along with the website, we hope launching the charter membership campaign will significantly increase the number of members nationwide.  Charter members will have an exciting opportunity to establish their own local FOCC chapter,” Heuchert said.
