June 8, 2009 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES, June 8 -- MTV’s Discover and Download artist “Just Kait” will perform at the ThinkQuest Awards Event in New York City on Tuesday, June 9th 2009.  The non-profit organization and teenage pop-punk prodigy will seek to inspire and ignite the imaginations of inner city students.

The event is being held at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) in downtown Manhattan in front of an audience of 1500 kids.  The occasion will be sponsored by ThinkQuest NYC, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization whose mission is to inspire and ignite imaginations of inner city students.  Just Kait is the ideal entertainment for the night as a 17-year-old high school student herself who managed to single-handedly catch the ear of MTV last year by winning a contest which had invited artists to create a new theme song for the popular reality show “Parental Control.”

A self-taught guitarist, drummer, and bass player, Kaitlyn DiBenedetto—known to the music community as “Just Kait”—performs bass, guitar, drums, and vocals on her upcoming record to be released this September.  The lead track, "U Suck," debuted on mtvU, MTV2 and MTVTr3s on May 18th, and her second single “Sick” will be the "Discover and Download" track on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU the week of July 6th.  “Sick” was also just chosen as the E! Network promo theme song for this summer.  The song will air on E! for fourteen weeks, through August 29th.

ABOUT JUST KAIT

Kaitlyn DiBenedetto, or “Just Kait,” is Senior at Toms River High School South in New Jersey. At only 17, she performs the new theme song for MTV's reality show "Parental Control" and has expanded it into a full-length song and music video titled “U Suck.”

DiBenedetto uses the stage name Just Kait because she plays all of the instruments for her songs. She started playing drums when she was 5, picked up guitar at the age of 11 and then began playing acoustic shows and with local bands.  She then single-handedly caught the ear of MTV at age 16 by winning a contest which had invited artists to create a new theme song for the popular reality show.
