St. Thomas Of Canterbury First Grade Recites: We Are American / British Troops And Veterans!

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of d-day: june 6, 2009

July 2, 2009 - PRLog -- Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, On Saturday afternoon, June 6th, the St. Thomas of Canterbury School First Graders turned out to pay tribute and honor America’s fallen sons and daughters represented on The Wall, those on the Tribute’s Iraq-Afghanistan memorial (represented by names on gold dog tags), and soldiers and veterans of both nations.  Below is the text of their tribute poem:

WE ARE AMERICAN / BRITISH
TROOPS AND VETERANS!

WE were that which others did not want to be.

WE went where others feared to go and did what others feared to do.

WE asked nothing from those who gave nothing and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal Loneliness ---should WE fail.

WE have seen the face of terror, felt the stinging cold of fear, and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moment's love.

WE have cried, pained, and hoped---but most of all, WE have lived times others would say were best forgotten.

Today WE stand here proud to tell you who WE are…..

FREEDOMS LAST STAND…
