Follow on Google News | Huddersfield Company Brings Back Messages From Local Volunteer Kids In AsiaFamily run business is providing a way for a school group to get their messages back home while on a volunteer trip in Asia.
By: Click 4 Beds The year 11 and year 12 pupils set off for Thailand and Laos on Monday 13th July, and will spend four weeks experiencing a different culture and learning life skills, organised through the school and youth organisation World Challenge. Split into various groups, the pupils, who are aged 16 and 17, will be trekking through jungles to remote communities and will be required to find their own transport and accommodation throughout the trip. Upon arrival they will help out at disadvantaged schools in villages, building classrooms and performing other tasks, such as fixing broken furniture, painting and providing sporting equipment for the students. The Huddersfield based Click 4 Everything group have sponsored the school volunteer group on their four week trip with the family run business have providing the group with clothing and an online diary where the group will be documenting their adventures. The online diary will be available to read on the company’s blogs on the Click 4 Beds and Distinctive Chesterfields websites, which will be added to when updates are received from the group on their travels. R.E teacher at Bingley Grammar School Nicola Turner said: “The trip is going to be an amazing experience for our pupils where they will see different cultures and help those less fortunate than ourselves.” she continues, “We were thrilled when Click 4 Beds and Distinctive Chesterfields offered their support to the cause. It’s great that a local business has got involved with such a worthwhile cause.” During their trip, Nicola will feed back pictures and updates of their journey trekking through mountains and jungles to the Huddersfield office where the team will manage and update the diary on behalf of the group. Managing director Steven Laidlaw said: “We were more than happy to offer our help and sponsorship to the group. It’s very charitable of them to spend their summer helping out those who aren’t as lucky as we are... we’ll be receiving regular pictures and updates from Nicola and the team, and we’ll be writing them an online diary so parents and everyone at home can follow their adventures online.” Notes: The trip has been organised with Bingley Grammar School in Bradford and World Challenge. World Challenge is an organisation that sets young people mental and physical challenges to teach them to overcome diversity and cope with new environments, working as a team and taking responsibility to meet objectives and become more confident.
