Flour, A Cutting Edge Floral Design Studio, Isn’t Just For Flowers Anymore.

July 18, 2009 - PRLog -- (Los Angeles, CA)-- After working in sales at some of Los Angeles’s most prominent florists, Carly Cylinder took the plunge to become a self-taught florist through education, mentoring, reading, and watching other florists. She decided the market needed a boost after seeing the same designs at different florists around town. Her passion for the Fair Trade movement allowed her to promote the cause as flowers is one of many imported products that farmers get exploited by. “The variety found in Fair Trade flowers is still very narrow, but at least when I promote the cause I bring awareness to this certification, which allows farmers to provide for their families and communities when market prices fluctuate.”
    Based in El Segundo, CA, flour currently serves the greater Los Angeles area. Services offered are the basic business and home accounts, where clients can setup a scheduled delivery (starting at a $50 minimum), with free delivery if the client reuses the same container; an incentive to go green. Specialties include the “flour party time”, which Carly got the idea for after working for a caterer with cooking class parties. “I saw a group of people getting together, learning a new craft, laughing and having fun, and thought why not apply that to flowers. How impressed would your friends be if you brought a new activity to a party instead of traditional activities like guess what is in the diaper.” Parties have a six-person minimum and are held at the event’s location. Guests learn about floral design, then get to create their own and take home the end result as a party favor. Custom boxes made from vintage album boxes are also available for home décor or to have an arrangement made in; a perfect gift for the person that has everything, to art and music lovers, to the eclectic.
