Jesus Presley to headline Friday Night Show at Portland, Oregon's Left Coast Eisteddfod

July 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Local Portland music legends Jesus Presley are appearing with Western Aerial, Runaway Norm and the SlimJims at the opening night's show of the Left Coast Eisteddfod, a modern Celtic-American performing arts festival debuting in Portland, for 2009 on Friday, August 21st.  

Festival organizer Ceri Shaw said, "We want to bring Celtic art and artists here to the northwest but also to create a cultural blend, to bring the two cultures together.  We think they've got a lot to offer each other and getting artists together from Oregon and Britain in Portland will result in something incredible."

The Friday night show opens with the alt-country SlimJims; followed by Runaway Norm  ; the ferocious enthusiasm of Western Aerial, who recently released their latest album, 'Rock-n-Roll is Always in Fashion'  and finally, the ribald mayhem of Jesus Presley.

The show will celebrate the culmination of the online eisteddfod organised by Americymru and will feature announcements of the winning submissions in all categories:- poetry, short story etc. There will also be a concert featuring Chris Needs ( BBC Radio Wales award winning radio presenter, author, multi-instrumentalist and all round entertainer ), Bruce Anderson ( one of Wales finest tenors ), Oceans Apart and Portland based singer songwriter Tyler Stenson.

The daytime festivities will include presentations and films and a Welsh/Celtic market which will be open between 9 am and 5 pm at the the McMenamins Crystal Ballroom on West Burnside in downtown Portland.

This is the Eisteddfod's first year and it is hoped that it will become an annual event. Next year will also see the first  Americymru International film Festival. This event which will run in tandem with the Eisteddfod will screen over 200 movies on Welsh and Celtic themes  - or inspired by Welsh and Celtic themes.  Announcements will be made about next years Film Festival at this years Eisteddfod.
