Company Success Amid Economic Gloom

Visit of the First Minister for Wales, the Rt. Hon. Rhodri Morgan, to successful mid Wales company, Mangar International

July 23, 2009 - PRLog -- Following on from the success of the former Secretary of State for Wales, Paul Murphy’s visit to Mangar International (1) in March, the mid-Wales based company was again honoured by political visitors. First Minister for Wales, the Rt. Hon. Rhodri Morgan dropped into Mangar International for a business briefing meeting on Tuesday 21st July.  The visit allowed the Board of Directors at Mangar International an opportunity to show the First Minister the results of the company’s hard work to achieve an impressive growth during the current economic recession.  The First Minister was accompanied on this visit by Welsh Assembly Member for Brecon & Radnorshire, Mrs Kirsty Williams.

Mangar International is a family owned Welsh company founded in 1981 by husband and wife team David and Francesca Garman (2). The company has become a trusted designer and manufacturer of quality products to help disabled and elderly people live safely and independently at home and is accredited with inventing the world’s first powered portable bathlift over 25 years ago. With the UK’s rapidly aging population, the healthcare and rehabilitation industry is currently under much scrutiny from the Department of Health, with trials presently being undertaken to find improved and efficient ways to provide equipment to those who need it most (3). Mangar International is at the leading edge of these developments, working closely with healthcare professionals and major high street retailers. In fact a range of over 20 of Mangar International’s bathroom items can now be found in all B&Q stores nationwide.

The First Minister said: “During the economic recession we are experiencing, it is a pleasure to visit a Welsh success story like Mangar International. The company is going from strength to strength and providing valuable jobs in mid Wales.”

Andrew Barker, Managing Director of Mangar International said after the visit: “Following the success of the Secretary of State for Wales’ visit in March we were honoured to welcome the First Minister for Wales the Rt. Hon. Rhodri Morgan and Assembly Member Mrs Kirsty Williams to our Head Office here in Presteigne.  Their visit provided us with a valuable opportunity to discuss the Company’s continuing growth despite these challenging economic times.”
