By: Charlotte Literary Festival This year’s festival highlights include speaking engagements by Dr. and Mrs. Michael Beckwith (The Secret, Agape International Spiritual Center) and entrepreneur and motivational speaker Chris Gardner, whose story inspired Will Smith’s blockbuster film The Pursuit of Happyness. In addition, there will be live music and entertainment on the main stage both days, book signings, an Author's Lane with local and self-published authors, vendors, panel discussions, workshops and activities for both children and teens, including a special appearance by the North Carolina Dance Theatre and storytelling sponsored by the Public Library. Some of the panels and workshops include: Health Literacy (Identifying Risk Factors and Prevention Strategies for America's Major Diseases), The New Financial World (How Do Families Succeed?) and Social Media Networking 101 (How to Brand and Market Yourself Using Social Media). The 2009 CLF will have something for the entire family. Having the 2009 Charlotte Literary Festival in NoDa is fitting; after all NoDa is celebrated for its dedication to supporting the arts in its myriad forms, for embracing change and for encouraging cultural diversity and awareness—all ideals that the Charlotte Literary Festival holds dearly and strives to promote wholeheartedly.
