LMS Portal Extends Social Collaboration Features With Addition Of Twitter Capabilities

The Source Training, Inc. a leader in XML-based multi-format e-learning solutions announced the upcoming release of a new twitter module today, expanding its commitment to social collaboration functionality.

Aug. 19, 2009 - PRLog -- Created and maintained in the Instructional Design Studio (IDSvX) and deployed to learners through the Blended Learning Portal LMS (BLP), the new twitter module will give users an additional way to maintain a connection with their network of fellow learners, along with the entire collective.
"We believe that building the social network between students, and between students and instructors is a key component to improving collective learning." said Steve Thorpe, company President. "The addition of this module reinforces our commitment to this aspect of learning."
TST has previously included socially collaborative modules in its Blended Learning Portal LMS including blogs, user news, course news, web conferencing, and feedback loops.
"Adding twitter functionality into our system gives us an additional tool to keep learners engaged in the entire learning process. When learners feel a sense of accountability to, and a connection with, an instructor as opposed to nothing more than a link to an e-learning course, they become more inclined to change performance" according to Kelly Hansen Sales Director.
TST's Blended Learning Portal gives learners access to training content available in a variety of formats. The BLP is built and maintained using the Instructional Design Studio. These two products work hand in hand to give Designers, Administrators, and Learners access to robust tools designed to help them accomplish their goals.
Released earlier this year, the IDSvX can be customized for each implementation to contain only those tools needed to meet each organization's objectives. Companies can select 'cafeteria-style', features and capabilities such as email training flashes, blogs, assessments, evaluations, scenarios, overviews, faqs and more.
