Sept. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- We are proud to unveil the Worlds first fully interactive digital graffiti wall. We will be creating the world’s largest graffiti artwork using huge city centre buildings as the canvas. Seeing is believing!

Alongside over 100 street artists and visual artists creating work for this year’s festival, we are proud to continue playing our part in promoting the regions creative industries and thriving street art scene.

Bristol Festival is the cities answer to Sonar/Edinburgh Fringe and Glastonbury.
2000 performers, 300 volunteers, 200 bands & shows, 200 Djs, 100 visual artists, 10 clubs, 7 outdoor stages over three days. That's a lot of local talent from the Southwest all covered by one inexpensive wristband (from £5 a day adv.). The main hub of activity takes place in the Amphitheatre in the city centre with an outdoor festival featuring 7 stages and family festival fun, followed by Rave on Avon in 10 city centre night clubs to take the party into the night.

Friday is an Audio-Visual extravaganza! Large-scale light projections, digital graffiti, interactive music machines, GPS location activated poetry, films, new media theatre and a whole array of digital art. One of the most prominent of which is a digital graffiti wall where top local graff writers will get the chance to spray full colour digital graffiti onto a huge city centre office block using projection mapping technology – a world first.

The Midas Club tent will host a CarnyVille showcase of cabaret and circus theatre from Bristol’s infamous Invisible Circus, followed by a selection of the Southwest’s finest stand up comics, including  The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre, and hosted by James Redmond.

On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September, 7 outdoor stages will feature over 2000 performers from the region, playing everything from rock to reggae. There will be food stalls, kids area, internationally renowned street art exhibition, silent Unity disco featuring live AV sets, workshop tent, free dance classes, an open mic Jam Stage, crazy art installations and interactive theatre throughout.  Regular boat parties, ‘Raves on the Waves’ will depart from right outside the festival taking you on a two hour musical adventure up the river.

The infamous Saturday night ‘Rave on Avon’ nightclub takeover has been expanded to include 10 city centre venues, which will celebrate the world-renowned Bristol dance music scene, with Bristol’s answer to Sonar!

And tickets range from a very credit-crunch friendly £5 - £25 for the full weekend!!!, kids under 12 free, when accompanied by a paying adult.

Notes to editors:

The Bristol Festival Community Group was set up in 2007 to launch a new community focused festival for the South West.

The volunteer led BFCG were granted full charity status in 2008 (Registered Charity no. 1124722) and key to the group's aims are public consultation, participation and involvement, making the Bristol Festival the only city wide publicly directed event. As well as organising the festival, the group runs a volunteer training programme including mentoring, skills swaps and work experience enabling members of the community to gain valuable experience in the events and music industry.

The Bristol Festival 2008 was a resounding success with a brilliant weekend enjoyed by roughly fourteen thousand people, winning Venue magazine’s Top Event of 2008. Over 2,000 artists were involved over the weekend of 20-21st September, with Brizzolfest taking place in the Amphitheatre in Bristol’s central Harbourside area, and Rave on Avon selling out 10 city centre nightclubs.

The Bristol Festival 2009 is planned for September 18th-20th, at Lloyds Amphitheatre, and 10 nightclubs, and will feature 7 outdoor stages and over 300 local bands, DJs, comedians, circus and cabaret performances. Tickets are just £5 a day in advance from www.thebristolfestival.org.

The Bristol Festival; A celebration of Bristol culture, inspiring passion and creativity. A community festival showcasing Southwest talent from music and dance to cabaret and art.
