Sept. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- London, UK – Claro Software (www.clarosoftware.com), a software company that develops and licenses assistive software, has announced the launch of ClaroRead V4 for the Mac. ClaroRead V4 breaks down barriers to learning, surfing the web, reading and writing with a raft of new features designed to help anyone use a Mac with confidence.

Dyslexic students, people with visual difficulties, older computer users, and language students will all benefit from ClaroRead V4’s easy-to-use toolbar, designed to closely integrate with both Word and Safari. The Mac will speak any text out loud with V4’s range of realistic, high-quality male and female voices. The V4 UK edition includes Acapela British English Lucy and Rachel, CereProc British English William, CereProc Scottish Heather, while the US version features Acapela American English Heather and Acapela American English Ryan.

V4 also speaks back text as it is written, providing users with their very own personal proofreader - in 20 different languages through add on voices. Claro’s design experts have also created ClaroCapture, a brand new innovation for V4. ClaroCapture grabs text from a variety of sources and compiles it within Word or PowerPoint, creating a single handy document – perfect as a revision and studying aid.

ClaroRead V4 Plus now includes Readiris Pro Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software, the most advanced OCR program available for Macs. Readiris lets you scan and convert any book, handout or PDF into an editable Word document, which can then be read out loud. Users can also listen to or read any documents on the go, as V4 converts text to an audio file and can be played back on an iPod or phone. Students can learn literally anywhere – perfect for exam preparation or language learning – and can build up an archive on their desktop.

The latest version also makes it even simpler for users with visual difficulties and dyslexia to read from a computer screen. The focus sentence tool greys or dims out sentences that aren’t being spoken by ClaroRead, and the new word trail feature colours words as they are read out, making text leap out from the page. The Word highlight setting interface can be altered to any colour or shade.

ScreenRuler is included, which provides an on-screen ruler which tracks the mouse pointer to help focus on a particular area of the screen. ClaroView allows the Mac screen to be viewed in any colour or shade. Character font, size, spacing and colour within Word can be changed via V4’s toolbar with just a single click of the mouse.

The familiar Word Check function has also been improved with an integrated multi-purpose window that checks for meanings, spellings, and homophones - words that sound alike, but are spelt differently. Alternative words, their dictionary definitions and over 2,000 different meaning symbols are provided. The feature even remembers your corrections, adding them to a personal dictionary and word predictor.

ClaroRead Plus for Mac V4 UK edition is shipping now at £185, while ClaroRead Standard for Mac V4 edition is available for £145. For more information about V4’s range of features, add-ons, and multi-license user agreements, go to www.clarosoftware.com
