A Suspense Novel Based on Fact and Fiction about the Original Americans

Powell’s profession is exciting to him, but as a reserved guy, he’s accustomed to a quiet life and likes it that way.  All changes when he learns that an old classmate and Indian activist, Johnny Greyfeather, was found murdered in Denver.  Unwillingly, Wes is swept up in the investigation and his quiet life turns into one of danger, distrust, and interaction with very powerful people.

When Wes receives a handwritten copy of a Cheyenne treaty in the mail, sent from Greyfeather, things really get out of hand.  The CEO of California Water and Trade (CWT), Clayton Wegner, has no intention of letting the document go public.  Doing so would mean huge losses for CWT and Wegner will use any means he can to keep that from happening.

Powell becomes caught up in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, and swept up in an investigation that points to murder, extortion and strong-arm tactics by CWT.  What’s even more bizarre—these present day happenings seem to be linked to a Cheyenne Indian genius and events from 140 years ago.  An old treaty becomes the focal point for past and present wars, but how can Powell prove it?

Stohlgren weaves a riveting tale that moves seamlessly from one time period to another.  This significant piece of fiction reveals how the original Americans were cheated out of more than just their birthright and yields unnerving insights into the nature of American greed and violence.

Tom Stohlgren is a writer, professor and research ecologist.  He has published over 150 scientific papers, a textbook, and has written two novels and screenplays. Dr. Stohlgren is completing the sequel to Severed Treaty and lives with his wife and family in Colorado.
