Follow on Google News | "Startups & Small Business chart a path forward in the UK" says Doug Richard to UK EntrepreneursDoug Richard, Dragons' Den investor and serial entrepreneur lectured on fast growth marketing to more than 200 UK entrepreneurs at the British Library last Friday. Business owners attended class in person and online via Richard's new channel S4Stv.
By: Nicola Coleman Speaking after the class Richard said, "I'm very happy that we had a good turnout and had a chance to support some great businesses. A fortnight ago, TUC warned that unemployment could top 4 million and CIPD recently said that employment isn't likely to return to pre-recession levels until 2015. That's unacceptable for two reasons. First because unemployment at that level is measured in human misery. Second, the UK and the world can't afford to have 4 million well educated and highly skilled UK workers sitting on the sidelines until 2015. Renewable energy, sustainable food production, new technologies for supporting an aging population . . . There are very real challenges that we must meet in the next decade and we don't have a man-hour to waste. Startups and small business chart a path forward in the UK and S4S is determined to bring them up to speed fast." At the event, Doug introduced S4Stv, an online channel he will use to deliver realtime and pre-recorded training to startups and small business owners across the UK in the months to come. Friday's online broadcast featured Entrepreneur Surgery, a fast-paced mentoring session for 5 startups seeking professional advice from Doug Richard and fellow speaker Nick Hynes. Hynes has been a pioneer in the Internet space since 1995. In early 2000, and literally from his spare bedroom, Nick founded and launched Overture Europe. Overture was the inventor of paid search performance marketing in 1999 and as MD and President Europe, Nick rolled out this revolutionary new media. The business grew from zero to $650 million across 14 countries before its sale to Yahoo! in October 2003. Doug Richard's School for Startups delivers accelerated training to entrepreneurs in how to launch a new business, assemble effective management teams, develop great products and services, market products & services efficiently and find funding from angel investors, venture capitalists and grant makers worldwide.
