Oct. 1, 2009 - PRLog -- Members of the Bahá'í Faith in West Berkshire are to hold a prayer meeting to mark one of the important dates in their faith’s calendar - the  ‘Birth of the Bab’ on 20 October.

The West Berkshire Bahá'í Community meets regularly to discus Bahá'í teachings and beliefs and talk about issues important to the Bahá'í Faith.

Community members are opening the ‘Birth of the Bab’ prayer meeting to people who want to learn more about the Bahá'í Faith.

West Berkshire Community member Shawn Khorassani said: “The  Birth of the Bab is a key date for Bahá'ís. It’s when we observe the anniversary of the birth of Siyyid ‘Ali-Muhammad in Persia in 1819, who later took the title of ‘the Bab’. He is often referred to as the herald of the Bahá'í Faith.

“It’s one of the nine Holy Days on which work is suspended and Bahá'í communities all over the globe gather for prayers and devotional readings, followed by fellowship and celebration. We open these activities to all who would like to attend.”
