Oct. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- Kipling’s Who’s Who recognizes Carole C. Christensen for her many achievements in government as well as her devotion to country!  Ms. Christensen currently serves as the Chief, Federal Agencies and International Programs Office, HQ DLA, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. As such, Ms. Christensen directs the development and implementation of plans, operations, and exercises to assure the Agency’s capability to support the military services, federal agencies, and our international allies during emergencies, natural disasters, contingencies, or wartime conditions.

For the Foreign Military Defense Programs, she ensures that our allies are able to obtain logistics support and services through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Program from the DLA. Prior to becoming the Chief of the Federal Agencies and International Programs Office, Ms. Christensen served as the Deputy Staff Director, DLA Joint Logistics Operations Center, JLOC, HQ DLA and as the Program Manager for the DLA Contingency Support Team (DCST). As such, she oversaw the budget to fund DCST training, exercise training deployments, and equipment acquisition.

Using lessons learned from the 1990 Persian Gulf War, Ms. Christensen has led the effort for DLA to develop the DCST forward support capability…a multi-functional, modular, and flexible team of Agency experts that can be deployed, as required, during emergency, war or contingency operations, to include humanitarian/disaster relief operations, to provide essential support requested by the supported Combatant Commander/Joint Task Force (JTF) Commander. In September 1994, Ms. Christensen directed all the administrative and logistics requirements to train, equip, and deploy the DCST to Port au Prince, Haiti as tasked by USACOM for Operation UPHOLD DEMOCRACY. This entailed the deployment of over 150 DLA personnel. She and her Team have subsequently planned and executed DCST deployments for disaster relief efforts in the Virgin Islands for Hurricane Marilyn in September 1995, for Operations JOINT ENDEAVOR/GUARD/FORGE beginning in December 1995 and Operation JOINT GUARDIAN beginning in April 2000, both in support of USCINCEUR, and most recently for Operations NOBLE EAGLE, ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM supporting USCINCCENT.

Ms. Christensen has been the prime Agency advocate for the use of the DCST in Combatant Commander sponsored exercises, such as USCENTCOM’s Bright Star, and USPACOM’s RSO&I, Ulchi Focus Lens and Cobra Gold. She continually sought exercise opportunities for the DCST, e.g., Tandem Thrust and Crocodile which test and evaluate the use of DLA resources forward in a Combatant Commander’s theatre of operations. Ms. Christensen’s served as the first DLA Liaison Officer to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Logistics Directorate (JCS/J4) from August 1998 until January 1999. She has been instrumental in the execution of the DLA Director’s initiative to place DLA Liaison Officers on every Combatant Commander’s Staff. DLA, now has permanent Liaison Officers on the J4 Staffs of CJCS, USEUCOM, USPACOM, USSOUTHCOM, USSOCOM, USJFCOM, USTRANSCOM, USSTRATCOM, and USNORTHCOM. In September 2005, Ms. Christensen placed a DLA Liaison Officer in the HQ FEMA Operations Center to ensure timely and valued support for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Ms. Christensen has over 47 years experience in various logistics disciplines. She began her career in December 1961 with the U.S. Army at Fort Richardson, Alaska. She came to the HQ DLA in April 1985 as the USPACOM and USACOM (now USJFCOM) Plans Officer. She was promoted to her current grade in April 1997 as Chief, Plans, Contingency Plans and Operations. She has served in her current position as the Chief of the Federal Agencies and International Programs Office since May 2005. Prior to joining DLA, Ms Christensen was Chief, Readiness Branch, War Plans Division, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam AFB, Hawaii from March 1983, she worked for the Air Force Material Command at two of its Air Logistics Centers (McClellan AFB, California and Tinker AFB, Oklahoma), where she held positions of increasing responsibility in the Directorates of Maintenance, Material Management and Distribution.

Ms. Christensen’s awards include the DLA Meritorious Civilian Service Award and the Director’s Award for Organizational Excellence. She is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute, Charlottesville, Virginia, the Joint Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Virginia, and the Air Force Command and Staff in seminar, Hickam AFB, Hawaii.

She is a member of Society of Professional Engineers (Former DLA Chapter Chairman); Air Force Association; Federal Executive Institution Alumni Association; Armed Forces Staff College Alumni Association.

Ms. Christensen attended Oklahoma City University and American River College. Graduate of Armed Forces Staff College and Air Force Command and Staff College.

Ms. Christensen is the mother of two children and three stepchildren. Ms Christensen is a proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
